Stop McCain

It is now clear that John McCain's march to the White House must be stopped at all costs. The man is a menace to Western culture. Blender magazine polled the two candidates for president on their favorite songs off all time. McCain picked "Dancing Queen" number one and "Take A Chance On Me" number three. Both are by the God awful Abba. McCain needs to stop watching "Mama Mia" and start reading his briefing books. If you love your country, you will do everything in your power to make sure an Abba… Continue

The New McCain

Remember the good old days when U.S. Sen. John McCain was a reformer on the side of good government and widely admired for his ethical standards? That McCain has been fading away and replaced by a man who will do anything to win the presidency. It has now come to light that McCain's chief foreign policy adviser is Randy Scheuneman, a lobbyist who took in $800,000 representing the country of Georgia to lobby the likes of John McCain. McCain, on Scheuneman's advise, has taken a strong stand saying… Continue

Bruce

The other day the geniuses who work at WEEI sports radio were complaining bitterly that Bruce Springsteen had no right to express his political views because - after all - he is just a singer. Right wingers have expressed similar opinions against a whole host of singers, actors and entertainers. Fox News regularly bashed Hollywood types who hold political opinions contrary to their own. But, who is qualified to talk politics? Why is it acceptable for two sexist, racist sports radio blowhards on… Continue

Rove over straight shooter

There has been a marked change in the direction and tone of Sen. John McCain's candidacy since lieutenants of Karl Rove have taken over his campaign. McCain has gotten nastier and his legendary "straight talk" has become a lot more crooked. For instance, he has falsely claimed that Barack Obama cancelled a visit with troops because he was not allowed to bring television cameras. Obama never intended to bring cameras. McCain has outrageously claimed that Obama was willing to lose the war in order… Continue

Flag day

For all the talk about Barack Obama's trip overseas last week and his speech in Germany, one fact is undeniable. When President Bush goes to Europe, people burn the American flag in protest. When Obama went to Europe, people waved the American flag in celebration.

I hope that you are intending to blog or publish a lengthy piece on the appallingly dysfunctional form of politics that pervades Wrentham. I've never seen politics in any town turned into as much of a personal grudge match blood sport anywhere as I've seen it happen in my twelve years of working in Wrentham. This latest ridiculousness between Board of Selectmen member Bob Cohen and former Selectman John Zizza, as appeared in the City/Region section of the Boston Globe today (http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2008/06/24/wrentham_selectmen_file_assault_charges_against_each_other/), is just the latest in the series of blatant idiocies involving elected officials in Wrentham (remember BOS member Jennifer Firth harassing the police last year and, before that, accusing Scott Brown (before he was elected a state rep) of sexual harassment? I don't know if it's something in the water in Wrentham or some genetic issue, but I believe a lengthy expose on the viciousness of town politics would be in order.
